For too long now, Nepal’s narrative has remained stuck around the same overarching issues of a challenging geographic terrain, massive corruption, high unemployment among youth, crippling economy with growing inflation, huge socio-economic gaps and a patriarchal society that prohibits women’s progress. However, we realize that it does not have to be that way. Not only is Nepal small enough to allow ease of governance but it is also conveniently located between two of Asia’s biggest powerhouses, India and China, that Nepal can easily saturate itself with.

Aside from the obsession with power, the current leadership also fails because it is neither up-to-date nor skilled in 21st world diplomacy and state of affairs. This was most evident in the most recent earthquake tragedy where none of the leading political parties used social media to interact with the common public. Not surprisingly, the current governance is also not in touch with most of the Nepali youth under the age of 35. We are mindful that replacing the current generation of politicians with newer political leaders who follow suit of their predecessors is not the solution.
The recent earthquake provided many youths an opportunity to spring into action and exhibit their leadership skills and commitment to public service pointing to the fact that the right platform is much needed to harness the immense potential amongst the youth--the future leaders of Nepal. We believe that LBA will provide such a platform to facilitate the much-needed change in Nepal’s leadership by cultivating a new generation of leaders who are visionaries. At LBA, a group of honest, competent Nepalis will be trained in both hard-skills that will enable them to comprehend advice received from technical experts as well as in soft-skills that is needed to gain the confidence of Nepalis and to build a prosperous Nepal. This is what we believe is needed to save our home and build a prosperous, self-sufficient Nepal in our lifetime.
